SQUARE ONE IS GOING GREEN! 
With the newly introduced Green Steps program, Square One Shopping Centre is taking some key steps toward reducing our carbon footprint. Understanding that the welfare of the planet is an important area of concern for our shoppers and the community at large, our Green Steps program is an essential move in order to stay competitive in our ultra eco-aware society. Square One, along with its mindful tenants, has implemented the first of many environmentally conscious programs and initiatives; one being a Ford Escape Hybrid currently used by the Security staff.
Some Green Steps we’ve taken in becoming more environmentally friendly:
- The placement of new interior recycle and waste containers inside the property
- A computerized energy management system that automatically controls all common area heating, cooling and exterior/interior lighting, minimizing energy consumption
- Using natural lighting as provided through the skylights
- Testing and installing various high efficiency lighting products/equipment throughout certain areas of the property
- Review and institute a broader waste management system
- Assisting retailers on proper waste disposal
- Using environmentally friendly cleaning supplies
- The use of soy-based inks and recycled paper
Square One is demonstrating to our customers that we are working hard to satisfy shoppers’ demands for eco-friendly products from an environmentally responsible business.
