WHICH SPRING/SUMMER BEAUTY TRENDS ARE YOU MOST EXCITED ABOUT?
KH: Super straight glossy hair is one of the big trends coming up this year. What I love about it is the simplicity of the look, and how healthy and shiny it makes the hair look! It has been a while since we’ve seen flat irons being used to straighten hair more than curling!
WHICH AVEDA HAIR PRODUCTS DO YOU RECOMMEND FOR ACHIEVING HEALTHY-LOOKING HAIR?
KH: I am a huge fan of Dry Remedy Daily Moisturizing Oil- It is a natural oil that actually moisturizes the hair, as opposed to silicone based products that claim to do the same thing, but actually only coat the hair, because they are synthetic in nature.
OVER THE LAST 20 YEARS, WHAT IS THE BIGGEST CHANGE YOU'VE SEEN IN THE BEAUTY INDUSTRY?
KH: The accessibility to information. Thanks to the advent of the internet, beauty experts abound and the exchange of information is unlimited! It is also so easy to share and search for inspiration. I think it has only benefitted and advanced the standards of the industry.
HOW DO YOU MENTALLY/CREATIVELY PREPARE FOR TELEVISION SHOWS, BEAUTY CONTENT ETC? (TRAVELLING, BOOK)
KH: I believe it’s important to immerse and surround yourself with all different types of inspirations, at all times. From pop culture and nightlife, to art galleries and operas and everything in between. Inspiration can come from anything and anywhere, but you have to seek out new horizons at all times.
WHAT'S YOUR SECRET TO APPLYING GREAT MAKEUP?
KH: Skin prep is the most important step when applying makeup. Well exfoliated and moisturized skin always makes makeup look better. Also, using the least amount of product as possible to achieve the desired look. This keeps ‘layers’ light on the skin and less likely to crease or look cakey.
WHAT'S YOUR FAVORITE EMOJI? WHY?
KH: The smiley face with the sunglasses. He’s just always cool and always positive.
