DO Go Glam
This is the one time of the year where you can get away with that extra sparkle or cool smoky eye that you’ve always wanted to rock but never had an occasion to do so. Don’t be afraid to layer on extra gloss or extend that winged liner. Just remember not to overdo every feature, sometimes less is more.

DON’T Try A New Trend
Just because pink ombré hair may be the new thing, you don’t want to look back on prom photos years from now and say, what was I thinking? Instead, work with your beautiful features and enhance them with your fave beauty products.

DO a Makeup Trial
If you’re unsure of your beauty look or a new lipstick colour, be sure to test it out a few weeks prior to prom night. This way you’ll get a feel of how your makeup will look the night of. And, if it’s not up to par, you'll have a few extra weeks to tweak. For makeup trials, we suggest Caryl Baker Visage, also known for their spa services including facials and brow waxing.

DON’T Go Overboard With the Lashes
If this is your first time trying faux lashes you may want to test them out first. Some lashes can be heavy and look like elongated spider legs. Better yet, head to any one of our beauty shops and ask a pro to put them on so you can get see how they realistically look and feel. If you’re not into falsies, a swipe of waterproof mascara is the next best thing! Our fave pick is the OG's of waterproof mascara: Maybelline's Great Lash Waterproof Mascara (just look for the infamous green and pink tube available at Shoppers Drug Mart).

DO Moisturize and Hydrate
Makeup looks best when your skin is in mint condition. Unsure of what you need? Head to one of our skincare experts, like Kiehl’s where they’ll give you a complimentary skin consultation AND you get to walk away with free goodies that you can try on our skin. Take advantage of their promo (now until March 14, 2018), featuring deluxe samples.

DON’T Over Bronze
The last thing you want to do is show up on prom night looking like a burnt orange. If you’re aiming for a healthy glow, ensure you’re using the right amount of bronzer. Remember, a little goes a long way. For those that don't have a go-to bronzer, NARS' The Multiple in Orgasm (from Sephora) is a peachy pink shimmer that glides on beautifully on every type of skin tone, making it one of their bestselling items.

DO Bring Back-Up Beauty
You don’t have to pack your entire makeup kit, but don’t leave home without the essentials such as a travel-sized roller perfume (invest in one, it’s perfect to carry in small clutches) and your lipstick for the evening so that you can re-apply as needed.
