SQUARE ONE’S “ONE NIGHT IN LA DOLCE VITA” ENLISTED THE HELP OF IRON CHEF BOBBY FLAY TO RAISE A RECORD- BREAKING $90,000+
October 19, 2018 (TORONTO) - Square One hosted their second edition of “One Night in La Dolce Vita” held at the shopping centre’s Grand Rotunda, featuring celebrity chef and Food Network television star, serving as special culinary host for the event, Bobby Flay (Beat Bobby Flay, Iron Chef).
More than $90,000 was raised for Oakville Hospital Foundation (OHF) and Trillium Health Partners Foundation (THPF) with 100% of ticket sales proceeds and 10% or retailer sales proceeds benefitting OHF and THPF.
Reality show star and chef Flay shared welcome remarks with guests and was on-hand to judge a pizza making competition between representatives of the two foundations, Dr. Ian Choy on behalf of OHF and Jake Dheer on behalf of THPF, for a $5,000 donation prize.
To guests’ surprise, Flay personally matched the $5,000 donation, upping the ante for the competition. Dr. Choy, surgeon at the Oakville Hospital, won the $10,000 donation on behalf of his Foundation with his final pizza creation. Additionally, both foundations received a $10,000 donation from Square One retailer Raffi Jewellers.
Top Chef Canada resident judge and renowned restaurateur Janet Zuccarini MCed the event, held in the south wing transformed into an Italian-inspired piazza, where the guests enjoyed live music, many food stations, and photo booths.
Over 1,500 community members, influencers, and celebrity guests from across the GTA were in attendance, with notable highlights including Murdoch Mysteries star Yannick Bisson with his wife, writer Shantelle Bisson, former Mississauga mayor of over 30 years, Hazel McCallion, and celebrity chef, Massimo Capra.
