Fashion Insiders Reveal Their Holiday Gift Lists

Fashion stylists and editors spend their days surrounded with, and being inspired by, covetable, beautiful objects. They get sneak peeks of new product, and make it their job to know the freshest trends. To inspire our holiday shopping this year, we asked some of our favourite industry insiders exactly what they’re hoping to give, or receive, for the season.

Skye Kelton, stylist

Jo Malone and Comme Des Garçons candles are luxurious indulgences I wouldn't buy myself, but would love to receive as a gift. It's difficult to choose a personal fragrance for someone, but as a candle, both Jo Malone’s Wood Sage & Sea Salt and Comme Des Garçons’ Candle One: Hinoki are sure to be crowd pleasers. Every time they brightened and scented my space, I’d be reminded of the sweet gift giver.

This year, I would love somebody to gift me a new pair of Red Wing Heritage Boots. I had a vintage pair that I lived in for the better part of a decade, but I sadly managed to (finally) kill them off during a long and sordid outdoor location shoot last year. I’m hoping non-denominational-Santa hooks a brother up with a new pair so I can deal with all the snow, salt and slush that is bound to befall us this year.

My husband has bought me a few really great handbags throughout our relationship, which I am forever grateful for. This holiday though, I am hoping to steer him towards shoes—these Prada velvet oxfords, to be precise.

For any shoeaholic like myself, a pair of classic white sneakers is a wardrobe staple. It's my go-to all year round and you can never have too many pairs!

If I may, I'll recommend my own book, Draw Fashion Now. It's available wherever books are sold, and is an affordable gift for the fashion enthusiast who has their own ideas to draw. Synthesizing all the knowledge I've developed from a decade of drawing fashion, it features an exclusive section on live runway sketching and a very special paper doll colouring book.

For myself, lately I've been hovering around the cases of pearls in Tiffany & Co. Pearls are a symbol of Venus, who rules my sign Libra, and I'm obsessed with their unique visual and tactile quality. While I look forward to the day that I'll be mature enough for a string of pearls, at this earlier stage of life I'd be more than content with the Elsa Peretti Open Heart Lariat, an iconic design that prioritizes the sensation of the wearer.

The new 3D floral version of Ela’s MILCK handbag is at the top of my list. It's a portable work of art and the perfect size for toting around my holiday party essentials.

A turtleneck instantly elevates any outfit and yet most men’s wardrobes lack this crucial piece. My gift to the men in my life this year? The life-changing gift of the turtleneck.

I'm so late to the game when it comes to Lululemon’s yoga pants but I own some pairs. I'm obsessed with the high-waisted versions. This season they did a shibori print in 3 great colourways. I'd love to see a few pairs under my tree.
