The History of the Pride Flags
The rainbow flag is synonymous with this celebratory time that honours and uplifts the 2SLGBTQIA+ community. This flag symbolizes unity, acceptance, and the fight for equal rights. When it’s displayed, it’s a way of showing support for the Queer community.
While the six striped rainbow Pride Flag is often used to represent LGBTQIA2S+ individuals, there are now multiple flags that specifically represent different groups within the community – many of which are displayed in our Pride 2024 installation.

About the 519
The 519 is Canada’s largest 2SLGBTQ+ community centre. As a City of Toronto Agency and a registered charity, The 519 WORKS WITH 2SLGBTQ+ communities to create meaningful opportunities where people can be their authentic selves, care for each other and build a better future.
Their programs and services are as diverse as the communities they serve. From their EarlyON program for families with little ones, to their older 2SLGBTQ+ adult focused work. The 519 is committed to being responsive and nimble to meet the evolving needs of community members.

Supporting the 519
In partnership with The 519, Square One will be encouraging guests and tenants to share a photo at the “Celebrating Pride” heart, tagging @shopSQUAREONE on Instagram using the hashtag #SQ1Pride.
For every post, the shopping centre will donate $5 to The 519.
